This is a space for exploring theory and developing ideas about digital learning as multi-dimensional experience, the philosophy and sociology of education, and narratives of value.

I’m Miriam, a university learning designer and current Doctor of Education candidate. My research is focused on the value of online education from the perspectives of adults who undertake it. Some of the topics I’m hoping to explore:
Narrative research
Theories of value
Online experience as entangled across worlds
Digital sociology
Digital “innovation” in education
I’m also really interested in play and gaming in theory and practice, sustainability and environmental issues, and how language and art shape our ways of knowing.
I created this newsletter/blog/journal thing as a space to develop my writing and thinking about educational philosophy and sociology. The ideas and arguments within are in development, and I’m putting them out into the world because I think it’s better to test how they hold up in all conditions than to handle them with acid-free gloves.
I’d love you to challenge my thinking! I’m learning, and I’ll get things wrong along the way. The idea is to sharpen and hone and discard what’s not working. Yes, “the mind file” is an awful pun.
